Sustainability Projects

In November 2022, CPS responded to requests to provide funding for two water projects - the installation of bore holes and hand pumps - in Chilalantambo and Sichinyoni-nyoni, two small and remote villages in the southern province of Zambia.

For four years, the bore hole at Chilalantambo was non-functioning and needed both repair and the installation of a hand pump. The absence of water caused great hardship. The provision of clean water will make personal care easier and will facilitate the development of self-sustaining activities including growing organic vegetables and the development of a piggery.

Sichinyoni-nyoni, a village situated in the Gwembe valley with a community of 40 households, needed a clean and safe water supply for both humans and livestock. Women had to walk long distances to collect water and had resorted to drawing water from shallow wells dug in a dry riverbed.

A video of the installation of the bore hole in Sichinyoni-nyoni village, and the peoples unbridled joy at the sight of the water, is available for viewing.
